Last night I was transported to the French Quarter via the music of Tovi Khali at the Promontory located in Hyde Park. In genuine Mardi Gras style it was truly a party! If anyone’s spirits were low before entering surely when they left the building they were uplifted. Our host for the evening was Storie Deveraux whose voice is a mix of power and sultriness. A lot of people may know her from the famous catch video and phrase “Who sent you?” which garnered over 300,000 views on social media She is gem and full of personality. She set the stage for New Orleans native Tovi Khali who delivered a powerful performance. Ms. Khali shared with us nuggets about her life and how she came to Chicago via Katrina. She did a great job of keeping the audience grooving! I love it when an artist really connects and that she truly did. I’m looking forward to more French Quarter and more from Ms. Khali. It was a terrific Tuesday evening and definitely kicked my week off the right way. Stay tuned for another offering of French Quarter Style. Check out some clips from the show and of her video offerings :
