There is nothing like a story that grabs you immediately and reels you. That is exactly what the latest project from Javid Jenkins does. Like everyone else social media, streaming apps and other forms of electronic entertainment often have me in a chokehold BUT reviewing the first four chapters of his book has reminded me of the power of a good old fashioned reading experience. I’ve known Javid for quite some time. I saw him and his wife Wendy on Facebook doing the Insanity Fitness challenge. I watched him transform himself and the lives of others through Getting Better Fitness a company that he founded. He had a vision, created a plan and executed it successfully. All visionaries have a back story, and you get the privilege to see where this dynamic personality came from. The title alone kind of makes you say “hmmmm I wonder what this is going to be about because who wants to be illegitimate?” Javid carefully weaves his story together like a crochet project and as an observer you anticipate the next part of the garment being completed. The character development is on point as I can literally see the interactions as I read the book. There is an art to telling stories and creating imagery and he does it very well. As a reader I can identify with some of the experiences and I think they are universal. I can tell by what I have read so far that this is a project that promotes healing. I started reading the 1st couple of chapters fast but, when I got near the end of my sample portion I slowed down because the official release is not until April. I cannot wait to get my hands on the entire copy of the this book and I encourage others to grab a copy as well!
